Movie Picnic: The Harder They Come (1973)

The legendary Film Picnic is coming again to the atmospheric garden of Villa Rana! This time, something unprecedented is in store, as it's the Finnish premiere of a film!

The evening's vibe starts at 9 PM, when the music offering will be provided by Gals Dem Sound, A DJ group inspired by Jamaica's music, who started playing in Jyväskylä in 2012. The trio's gentle vibe focuses especially on playing reggae, dancehall, and afrobeats, but their selections also include rap, soul, funk, disco, and house.

The movie starts at midnight. You can arrive anytime – the event is free!

Reggae vibes bigger than life! The movie brings relaxed rhythms and a life-affirming attitude to the Finnish summer with its music. In the movie, a young Ivanhoe ”Ivan” Martin Cliff moves to Kingston to seek a new, luckier, and richer path in his life. However, in his pursuit of fortune, he drifts into criminal circles and becomes the victim of repeated scams. Ivan, full of youthful enthusiasm, is boldly audacious and doesn't want to be easily discouraged, but his path to success eventually leads him into the center of somewhat bigger problems.
