The Soihtu Exhibition Centre presents the history of the University of Jyväskylä and Finnish teacher education. In the self-guided Time Travel workshop, you can explore a model school from 150 years ago and its teaching. The Kipinä Gallery features an exhibition showcasing the decommissioned Mattilanniemi campus of the University of Jyväskylä. Not for the white hats, but for all city dwellers.

Nature Museum

The Nature Museum presents the biodiversity of Central Finland and Finland more broadly. The focus is on the region's animals, plants, and habitats. The rotating exhibition space features Biodiversity -an exhibition that encourages visitors to explore nature’s immense biodiversity. In this self-guided A Peek Under the Water – Raakku and His Friends In this workshop, you’ll learn about the habits of the grayling and discover how it lives, why it needs salmon as companions, and how river water stays clean.

The University Botanical Garden

The Seminaarinmäki, Ruusupuisto, Mattilanniemi, and Ylistönmäki campus areas

The garden is open at all hours

The University Botanical Garden invites you to relax and explore both familiar and rare plant species. The garden’s outdoor areas are open to the public year-round. Visitors can take a self-guided tour that highlights the garden’s main attractions and plant species.
