Rally in Jyväskylä – Gravel, heroes, and circus for 75 years
The Grand Race, founded in Jyväskylä in 1951, initially featured a long route. Since then, ”Jyskälä” has grown into a round of the World Rally Championship, an international carnival, and Finland's largest sporting event in terms of spectator numbers. The exhibition takes visitors to the heart of a Central Finnish rally competition, onto gravel roads, pine forests, field parking lots, and into the communal spirit of the volunteers.
Freddy Fabris: The Renaissance Series
Experience Da Vinci's The Last Supper at the car repair shop. Freddy Fabriksen photography exhibition brings classic artworks to an auto repair shop. In his award-winning photo series The Renaissance Series, photographer Freddy Fabris has reinterpreted some of the most famous Renaissance artworks by photographing the subjects in an auto repair shop. He used the shop's mechanics, his friends, and actors as models. The insightful and humorous photo series went viral on social media, won several photography competitions, and was exhibited in galleries worldwide between 2016 and 2020.
13 stories of human-centered design
13 Stories of Humanistic Design approaches architecture through storytelling. Alvar Aalto museum has invited the writer Sanna Puutonen Immersing ourselves in Aalto's buildings through user experiences has resulted in thirteen fictional stories. The stories bring the buildings to life through vignettes. They bring a human level to the architecture, where the protagonist of the built space and environment is a person settling in, sensing atmospheres, or perhaps following the play of light on the surfaces of different materials.
The best without dismantling
The exhibition "Unpacked best" examines demolition and its alternatives in a time when the built environment is changing faster than ever. The exhibition invites reflection on when demolition is justified and when an existing building should be preserved, repaired, or repurposed.
AALTO - Work and Life
The Alvar Aalto Museum's permanent exhibition opens Alvar Aalto's life's work for the public to explore. It goes deeper than the surface into the architect's work and design process, whether it concerns an individual building, a city center, a piece of furniture, or a regional plan.
