Finland’s largest science fiction and fantasy literature convention Finncon is organised in Jyväskylä
this year. The first Finncon dates back to 1986, making it the first national sci-fi convention in
Finland, with authors, readers, fans and researchers attending from around the world. The theme for
the 23rd Finncon is artificial intelligence. The guests of honour this year are translator Kersti Juva,
professor Raine Koskimaa, publisher Cheryl Morgan and writer Charles Stross. The programme
includes e.g. panel discussions, lectures, workshops and a masquerade. Finncon is free of charge
and open for everyone. The main venue for the con is the University of Jyväskylä L-building.
